Agile Software Quality Assurance Analyst

Reports to: This individual will report to the Director of Development.

Full-time

Overall Responsibility: As a full-fledged, first-class member of the agile SCRUM team, participates in planning, estimating, scheduling, retrospectives and any other team activities. Core responsibly is to the SCRUM team and to the success of each sprint which is defined as: completing the tasks committed to for each sprint, ensuring that all are ‘Done - Done’ as defined by the team and accepted by the Product Owner.

Skills and Attributes:

Team Member

• Is a generally thoughtful, analytical problem solver with the ability to add a unique perspective to the team in terms of identifying potential road blocks and dependencies early in the process.
• Needs to participate as a member of the agile team, not just the QA team, to bring this information to the team’s attention as soon as possible.

Exploratory Testing

• Business requirements on an agile project may not be as concrete as requirements on a traditional project; agile methods accept that change is a healthy and real part of software development. This means that test case generation may not be as cut-and-dry as it was in the past. Exploratory testing is an essential skill to uncover additional considerations for the product owner to evaluate.

Automation

• Agile emphasizes automating as much as possible.
• Skills are required to take the lead on incorporating automated acceptance tests into the continuous integration of the product and raising the visibility of end-to-end and scenario testing results.
• Ability to incorporate automated regression testing into the path of product delivery.

Communication

• The ability to jump into the communication stream, which may be verbal, written, or virtual and assimilate the information needed is essential, as comprehensive requirements documents and long lead times to write test plans are not available at the beginning of agile projects.
• Prepared to learn to ask the right questions at the right time and provide the right level of feedback at the right time.
• Tests and testing activities will highlight ambiguous requirements, communicate the planned behavior of the systems, let the team know how they are doing as far as delivering that behavior and document the behavior of the systems.

Visibility of Work

• Provide complete visibility into all test related activities including test design, test implementation and test progress.
• Alert the entire team when failures occur in automated, exploratory, manual and regression testing.

Experience Requirement: Bachelor Degree/Associate Degree in Business, Information Systems, or related field preferred and 4-6 years of experience writing documentation. Previous experience working as a QA Analyst/tester in an Agile SCRUM development team is preferred.Experience with BuilderMT WMS a plus.

Report Analyst

Lakewood, CO – A software business that produces the leading technology solution for the construction market is looking for an individual to develop and maintain their standard application reports, address custom report requests and help develop a report portfolio for marketing.  This person must be self-reliant and thrive in a small growing company.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The qualified candidate needs to have superior organizational skills to manage report requests from a large client base as well as internal requests to coordinate with software enhancements.  This individual will be responsible for developing new and maintaining existing reports in Crystal Reports, Liberty Reports for WMS and Digital Metaphors’ ReportBuilder. Communication with end-users is key to the needs analysis stage, and time/cost estimates will be prepared for each project.  There is an existing QA team that will offer help in testing the standard reports prior to production but the role requires testing of custom reports independently.

Also involved in the report process is SQL development.   We need this individual to write queries against a Firebird database and also write T-SQL stored procedures against a SQL Server database in order to support the custom report requests.  This person will also need to pull data in from multiple data sources and database types for some of the requests.

Experience with Liberty Reports, ReportBuilder, WMS, Sales Simplicity or Timberline is a plus.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• Strong SQL skills, with solid working knowledge of stored procedures with complex joins
• Advanced Crystal Reports experience, v10.5 or higher
• Excellent Business Analyst skills (to include strong problem solving and analytical abilities)
• Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
• Customer Service experience.
• Ability to coordinate meetings with customers, draw out information to create report specifications, and develop cost estimates
• Detail oriented, independent and yet able to maintain a team player’s approach
• Self-motivated / Ability to work independently
