Supervisors can be assigned from either Sage Timberline® Office Job Cost, or by manually entering the supervisor within the Contacts tab of WMS.
Each job requires an assigned supervisor in order to display in the list of jobs within the Wireless Scheduling application on the BlackBerry® or Palm® devices.
|
Note |
|
Within WMS, a supervisor is defined as the specific employee responsible for monitoring the construction process and maintaining the schedules in the field. The supervisor may also be known as the superintendent or builder. The title of this field can be defined by the client to accommodate the different job titles used by the company. (See Custom Descriptions - Timberline Integration. The field type for this particular field is HMS_Supervisor and the default description is Supervisor.) |
|
Note |
|
The method for updating the Supervisor field will be affected by the settings in Master Job Synchronization Settings. Please verify the synchronization settings will or will not update the field appropriately and change the settings if necessary. See Accounting and Estimating DB Settings and Updating Job Fields. |
From Setup menu, select Jobs. Or, click the
Jobs icon on the Setup toolbar.
Select the specific job using the Jobs Toolbar.
Click on the Contacts tab.
Follow the appropriate method for assigning the supervisor, either in Timberline or WMS:
If using Sage Timberline® Office, the supervisor must be assigned to the job in the Project Manager/Supervisor (custom description) field on the Setup Jobs screen in Job Cost. If the supervisor is assigned within that field, click the
Synchronize to Timberline icon for the Supervisor field to synchronize the information.
If the supervisor is assigned in WMS, click the Supervisor drop-down arrow and select the appropriate name from the list of users set up in WMS. OR, type the name of the supervisor in the Supervisor field.
Click the
Save icon to save any changes. Or, click the
Cancel icon to cancel any changes.

Note |
|
The name used to identify the supervisor can be an individual supervisor's name or a code name for a group of jobs. Using a code name will allow multiple Palm®/BlackBerry® devices to download the same jobs. Using a code name is useful if there are multiple supervisors working on the same jobs. |
