Sales Center Troubleshooting

Common troubleshooting scenarios and their solutions are outlined in this chapter to help resolve common errors when using BuilderMT Workflow Management Suite’s sales center integration. When data does not transfer, the problem may stem from a variety of sources, whether it is due to network problems, incorrect numbering techniques, or unchecked settings, for example. The following scenarios offer common troubleshooting techniques with a variety of alternative solutions.

Following is a list of errors, and issues.  Users looking for a specific issue can use the Edit > Find command to quickly search this topic for key words and phrases.

Basic Troubleshooting Methodology

If customers are experiencing issues with integrating data to and from their respective sales center, basic troubleshooting methodologies are listed in steps 1-3 below. More specific troubleshooting scenarios are described in the remainder of this chapter.

General Issues

User cannot connect to the sales center

For users with problems connecting to the sales center, follow the steps below.

  1.    Verify settings in WMS Setup > Company > Sales Center Integration, andSetup > Division > Sales Center Integration.  Ensure the delivery settings are mapping to the correct server address, then test those settings.

  2.  Verify that settings in WMS are corresponding with the recommended settings from the sales center.

  3. Use a Windows FTP client to try to connect to the sales center (i.e. command line FTP) rather than Internet Explorer, which can simulate a connection when one does not really exist.

  4. Attempt to establish connection using another computer. This step may determine if the connection problem is isolated to the user’s computer.

  5. Attempt from another network that is not behind a firewall. This step could determine if the user’s network is causing the connection problem due to a firewall.

Cannot Create Sales Worksheets

Default suppliers must be defined before a user can create a sales worksheet. Verify the defaults are defined.

Duplicate Plans in Sales Worksheet Task Manager

If the Sales Worksheet Task Manager bar displays duplicate plans in the same community, there may be duplicate base houses. If this is the case, they can be removed one at a time as follows:

  1. From Models/Options by Community, highlight the second copy of the base house.

  2. Right-click and select Delete Row.

  3. Type Yes at the prompt, then click Continue and Save.

These steps should be repeated for each plan with duplicate base houses.

Not using the Latest Version of WMS, Sales Pricing

Many issues surrounding the Sales Pricing ‘round-trip’ have been resolved in recent releases, and can be resolved by updating the WMS software and database.

To check for Workflow Management Suite updates:

  1. Click on the WindowsStart button and select All Programs.

  2. Select BuilderMT > Check for BuilderMT Product Updates.

  3. Click Next in the Check for Updates wizard and install updates if they are available.

Extended time to Refresh Sales Worksheets

Some customers may experience longer refresh times after repricing sales worksheets. This can occur if the customer does not refresh data on a regular basis. To expedite the refresh time, the user can range-select only those items to reprice. Range-select by using the <CRTL> key + left-click to select the items.

The other workaround involves the deletion of records from the Item Cost Detail table. Prior to deletion, all users have to log out of the database and a copy needs to be made of the database. Use IBExpert to run a backup and restore on the database before deleting the records from the Item Cost Detail table. Deleting these records should greatly reduce the time to refresh the sales worksheets.

Option not showing up in the Issue Budgets/Issue Purchase Order screen

If an option doesn't have detail items associated with it, it will not show up in the Issue Budgets, or Issue Purchase Orders screen.

These options may display the Estimate Required flag as illustrated above.

Builder1440 Scenarios

The following scenarios cover WMS settings and integration with Builder1440 software.

Builder1440 - Deleted Assemblies in Sage Timberline Estimating

If an assembly is deleted in Estimating, WMS subsequently deletes the option before it is sent to B1440. This deletion occurs as long as the Replicate Estimating process has been completed in WMS, and the option has been removed in WMS.

Importing Assembly Notes into WMS

To allow Sage Timberline Estimating assembly notes to transfer to WMS during integration, ensure the Setup > Divisions > Sales Center Integration > Update Long Description from PE Assembly Notes is enabled. If this setting is disabled, no assembly notes will be brought into WMS.

Deleted Assemblies in Sage Timberline Estimating

If an assembly is deleted in Estimating, WMS subsequently deletes the option before it is sent to B1440. This deletion occurs as long as the Replicate Estimating process has been completed in WMS, and the option has been removed in WMS.

Lot Phase Status

If the Lot Phase Status is only changed in B1440, that change will NOT reflect in WMS when the configuration is accepted by WMS.
