Setting Up Jobs in the Sage Timberline® Office Job Cost Module

A job as it is defined within WMS is a lot:

On which a single family home is constructed.
On which a multi-family building is constructed
On which an individual unit within a multi-family building is constructed

Jobs are generally set up for all lots in a given community in Job Cost. The job information is imported into WMS at the time the Update All Timberline Files or the Share Job Information With Job Cost process is run in WMS. See Update All Timberline Files and Share Job Information with Job Cost for additional information.

To set up a new job in Sage Timberline Office Job Cost:

Launch Sage Timberline Office Accounting and select the applicable data folder for the job.
Open Job Cost (JC).
From Setup menu, selectJobs.

Enter the job number in the Job field. In the above example, AH00010 is entered (job numbers automatically hyphenate).
Enter a basic description of the job in the Description field and press Enter.
Complete the remainder of the basic job information within the General tab. Be sure to enter the name of the site supervisor in the Supervisor field.
Click the Status tab.

Verify the Tracking opt option is automatically selected.
1. In order to track the costs separately in Job Cost for options/extras, this setting must be enabled at the time Sage Timberline Office Accounting is set up. The Job Cost settings established during installation are found in File > Data Folder Settings > JC Settings.
Click the AP and GL tab.

Verify or enter the correct company prefix for the company to which the job belongs in the GL account prefix field. Job Cost entries will not interface correctly from Purchasing (HMS) if this field does not contain the correct information.
ClickSave at the bottom of the screen.
Click Close at the bottom of the screen (Close appears after Save is selected).
